0-60 mph Calculator for Cars

This calculator has been designed around statistical averages based largely on sample data from Edmunds.com. Power to weight ratio is the primary factor, but it also takes into consideration the performance advantages of RWD and AWD over FWD, and the advantage of a Manual transmission over an Automatic. Of course there are other variables that could be considered, but the 0-60 times that are calculated should be reasonably accurate for most cars.

Introducing a New Car Research Website: carspecs.us

In other words, if you're looking for a car that'll do 0-60 in under 8 seconds, has over 39 inches of headroom, has AWD, a manual transmission, and over 30 mpg on the highway then you can actually search for exactly that.

The science behind the calculator

September 25, 2008

I created the 0-60 calculator back in 2004. At the time I couldn't find anything quite like it so I built my own. It's a bit of a toy that I still use to this day. Since I created it, it's been linked to from hundreds of websites and I figure it's about time to explain how it works, why it works, and just what you can and can't expect from it.

Note: Since this calculator is based on statistics from listed figures, it's important that you enter the data it asks of you and not whp numbers or race-ready weight. I know it seems weird, but don't include the weight of the driver either.
